At Calibre Quality Care, our primary mission as a local introductory care agency is to connect families across Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and the surrounding areas with exceptional, self-employed Personal Assistants (PAs). We understand that inviting a care professional into your home requires absolute trust. That is exactly why we developed our comprehensive PA Assurance Process, which establishes the strict standards all our registered PAs must follow.

Designed in alignment with PAMMS requirements, our Assurance Process is an ongoing commitment to ensuring that every self-employed PA we introduce meets the highest industry standards for safe, dignified, and high-quality support.

What is PAMMS?

You will often see us mention that our processes are “PAMMS-aligned,” but what does that mean for you and your loved ones? PAMMS stands for the Provider Assessment and Market Management Solution. It is a widely recognised and rigorous framework used by local authorities to evaluate, structure, and ensure quality compliance across care and support services.

h-to-node=”10″>We utilise the PAMMS framework to guide the development of all our essential company policies, from safeguarding and medication management to our overarching quality assurance procedures. By aligning our operations with PAMMS, we ensure that our vetting and recruitment processes for self-employed PAs are highly auditable, structured, and professional. It also helps us maintain robust feedback loops and complaint logs, demonstrating our uncompromising standards to local authorities, health professionals, and, most importantly, the families we support in our community.

Rigorous Vetting and Safety Checks Before any PA is introduced to a client, they undergo a thorough documentation and vetting programme. We require and verify the following:

  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate (Adult workforce, and Children workforce if applicable) issued within the last 3 years, or active registration on the DBS update service.

  • Proof of identity and the right to work in the UK.

  • Active public liability insurance, as well as business car insurance if they will be transporting clients or claiming business mileage.

  • A Unique Tax Reference Number (UTR) to ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations as an independent contractor.

Continuous Training and Competency We firmly believe that PAs should only provide services they are fully trained and competent to deliver. Calibre Quality Care actively tracks all PA training records and will not introduce any client to a PA who does not have up-to-date training. Key mandatory training requirements include:

  • Safeguarding Level 2: Renewed yearly.

  • Moving and Handling: Renewed yearly.

  • Medication: Renewed yearly.

  • Infection Control: Renewed 2 yearly.

  • Mental Capacity Act (MCA): Renewed 2 yearly.

  • First Aid / Basic Life Support: Renewed 3 yearly.

  • Care Certificate: Completed with no renewal required.

A PAMMS-Aligned Code of Conduct Quality care goes beyond technical competency; it requires deep empathy and respect. In line with PAMMS requirements, all our self-employed PAs agree to adhere to the “Skills for Care, Code of Conduct” at all times.

  • PAs are expected to maintain the core values of our service by treating clients with kindness, compassion, and empathy.

  • They must ask for appropriate permission and consent, providing clear explanations of the support they are delivering.

  • Care must evidence non-discriminatory practice, respecting the service user’s diversity, privacy, dignity, and independence at all times.

  • Support must be individually tailored and person-centred, regardless of a client’s religion, background, or marital status.

By enforcing this rigorous PA Assurance Process, Calibre Quality Care ensures that you are matched with independent professionals who are not only highly qualified but also deeply committed to your wellbeing.
