Support

How support is tailored to you

If your worried or confused about care and support services for yourself or a loved one, call Calibre Quality Care for an informal chat.

We will help you understand what support is available, giving you impartial advice and guidance. We are approved partners of several local organisations, charities and local authority Adult Social Care Teams, and if necessary, we can refer you to them for support too.

Your local council can provide a free “needs assessment” even if you are not financially eligible for them to help pay for the actual support provided. They can also call upon other services that may help you, such as occupational therapists and equipment providers.

At your request …

We will take the requirements of the support you require and will advertise this securely and confidentially to all our registered, qualified and Enhanced DBS holder Personal Assistants.

Our Personal Assistants have different levels of training and availability. Depending on your requirements, this will determine which Personal Assistants register an interest to work with you. Once we have a selection of suitable Personal Assistants for you, the next step is to arrange to meet them. This is where you can discuss the more intricate details of your support. This initial meeting can be in your home, a local cafe, or anywhere you feel confident and safe. It can be on your own, with family or friends around, your social worker, or if you wish, the member of our support team that has seen you through your journey this far.

Once you’ve found your preferred Personal Assistant …

Once you and your Personal Assistant are both happy, it is down to you to arrange a start date directly with them.

The Personal Assistant will raise an invoice weekly for any support given, and this will either be emailed, or hand delivered to you. Under this introductory model of care the PA is registered with Calibre Quality Care as a self-employed Personal Assistant – you are not responsible for any employment responsibilities, and each Personal Assistant will provide you with a contract for services.

How do I pay?

Your contract is with the Personal Assistant, however payment is made via Calibre Quality Care by BACS payment. Personal Assistants can take payments by cheque made payable to Calibre Quality Care but never in Cash (ways to pay will depend on your individual circumstances or assessed need).

Personal Assistants can also support you if you are funded by the Government and receive a Social Care Direct Payment, have a Continuing Health Care need or have a Personal Health Care budget, are in receipt of PIP or Attendance allowance.
